The Force That Resists the Union: Gravity Does Not Affect Sideways Motion:

We had all, at least once, experienced gravity effects on our behavior. If you are moving sideways, at a specific velocity, the effect of gravity will remain independent of your lateral movement. Do we exert an attractive force on other objects, animals or people? We surely do. 

Even if someone was pushing you to do something and you expose yourself to such humilliation, you will end up falling at the same exact rate as if you would be going aka moving from one extreme to another. Yet, if you do something about it, you may be able to avoid hitting rock bottom. "An exception is if the object moves so far that the curvature of the Earth comes into lay during its fall to the ground". 

While we exert an attractive force, our mass is tiny and this force finds it hard to manifest itself. Yet, you can somehow revert this effect. Indeed, I believe it is all about "The Force That Resists the Union." If you wanna step on the ground strongly enough, make sure you build the right alliances.
